Learning To Ride VI - CBT

So yesterday I did my CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) at Seafield. All in all it was pretty intense. 8:30am start (on a Sunday!), until about 5:30pm, with an hour for lunch. I was knackered at the end of it all but…

I PASSED!!!

So technically I can ride a 125cc on the roads, though I won’t be rushing to make use of that fact.

I feel I did ok but I still need to do a lot of work.

Mainly on:

  • Clutch control when pulling away (damn, weeny 125’s, it’s MUCH easier on Katy’s 650!)
  • The order of the approach to junctions and traffic lights (check indicators, signal, life saver, change position, change gear, slow down, etc, etc..),
  • Rear observation (I have a habit of looking in my mirrors but not actually LOOKING).

So next stage is a days “Road Rider”, again on a 125, in two weeks. Basically me and one other student, out on the road with an instructor, for a day. So hopefully I will get some time to work on these until I move to a 500 for my Direct Access a week later!
